I am the Founder and ex-President of Project Encephalon , an international, trainee-led non-profit, organisation for neuroscience enthusiasts.
I am also the Founder and Managing trustee of its parent organisation Project Encephalon Foundation.
Project Encephalon conducts various academic and non-academic neuroscience-related activities while accounting for the interdisciplinary needs of the field.
All the activities conducted by Project Encephalon are always free to attend by anyone.
Similarly, there is no membership fees to join Project Encephalon.
Project Encephalon was started as my personal goal on 24 June 2020, to learn and teach neuroscience to everyone who is interested in the field, regardless of their academic and socio-economic background.
In approximately one year of its foundation, under my leadership Project Encephalon achieved following milestones-
- Inducted 1500+ members in the organisation
- Recruited 55 volunteers in the team distributed in President’s Office, Internal Affairs, External Affairs, Marketing Office, Financial Office, International Affairs, Editorial Department, Technical Department, Design Department and two independent committees Code of Conduct Committee and Scientific Advisory Committee (with 17 additional members)
- Partnered with national and international organisations- Researchers for Change, The Science Paradox, Stimulus, Upside Down Labs, Scientists Inc.
- Signed and endorsed Alba declaration on equity and diversity
- Organised several event series: Paper Club, Journal Club, NeuroPiction, NeuroRants and Ask SAC (Podcast series and webinars).
- Developed computational neuroscience educational code available on GitHub.
- Built an interactive and vibrant community of neuroscience enthusiasts on Discord.
- Organised an international neuroscience conference NeuroNovember Convention 2020 with 800+ registrants, 23 speakers, 4 panel discussions, 3 competitions and 1 virtual lab tour.
- Organised international symposia marking 169th birth anniversary of Dr Santiago Ramon y Cajal known as Cajal Week 2021 with 600+ registrants (besides membership base) with 7 speakers, one panel discussion and an exhibition by Cajal Legacy, Cajal Institute, Spain.
- Started two blog series- neuroscience interview known as Sapiens in Neuroscience and general concepts in neuroscience known as NeuroNotes.
- Received the IBRO-APRC grant of 1,250 EUR to organise Brain Awareness Week.
- Started the official magazine of Project Encephalon called Neuroletter.
- Won the IndiaBioscience Outreach Grant of ~1,300 USD to organise The Mind Gala in collaboration with Thakur Neurodegeneration Lab.
- Listed as a finalist at the Falling Walls Engage 2022.
